They came by boat, some in 1825 in the smallest vessel ever to cross the Atlantic at the time. They came for a new life, a better future. They brought arts, culture, and foods the lies of which American had never seen before.¶
"Norwegian Touches" tells the stories of Norwegian immigrants, their ancestors, and their descendants. It also includes tales of great Norwegians such as playwright Henrik Ibsen, artist Edvard Munch, composer Edvard Grieg, violinist Ole Bull, sculpture Jacob Fjelde, master novelist Ole Edvart Rolvaag, and Wisconsin woodcarvers Else Bigton and Philip Odden.¶
Featureed tourist attractions include Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum in Decorah, Iowa; The Chapel in the Hills, Rapid City, South Dakota; Moorhead, Minnesota's Heritage Hjemkomst Center; and Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, which bills itself as the troll capital of America.¶
The book is beautifully designed and is illustrated with about 80 photographs, half of them in full color. ¶
About 100 classic recipes cover a range of Norwegian foods.
Norwegian Touches History Recipes Folk Arts Notably Norwegian edition by Louise Roalson Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks
This book stands shoulder to shoulder along side the other "Touches" ethnic books, in re the broad and useful culture, arts and history information, and includes an impressive array of authentic Norwegian recipes, as well. Although the book certainly is otherwise appropriate, I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking introductory information about the country and its practices and people.Product details

Norwegian Touches History Recipes Folk Arts Notably Norwegian edition by Louise Roalson Cookbooks Food Wine eBooks Reviews
This was a great book with a lot of history and recipe information. My sisters and I loved getting to know our Norwegian roots.
Lovely book--I gave it to a friend
Love it. Full of history and good recipes.
My husband's family was immigrated from Norway. We are thrilled to learn about the family history and the history of the huge movement from the mother land to the new land. I read it to him while he's driving. Thanks for the publisher and Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum.
I got this book mainly because I recently found out that Belest and Martha Roalson are my 3rd great grandparents. Their oldest daughter, Sanna is my great, great grandmother. This book is filled with so much information on the history of Norway, and the emigration of Norwegians to America. I am looking forward to trying some of the traditional Norwegian recipes, as well.
